Amazon Web Services Setup

To obtain your S3 API Key and S3 API Secret

(Links will be provided throughout, along with the text instructions)

Go to https://console.aws.amazon.com
- If you have an Amazon Web Services account, sign in.
- If you do not have an account, create one now.
  - During the account creation process, you'll need to enter your credit card for billing purposes.
  - If presented with any options that have additional fees, these can be skipped as they are not needed for SK Drive.
  - Once account creation is complete, log into the console.
Once on the console, you'll see a list of all Services. Search or scroll down to find IAM.
Once on the Identity and Access Management (IAM) page:
- Click Users on the left-hand menu.
- Then click Add User at the top.
- Enter SKDrive as the User name and select Programmatic Access at the bottom.
- Click Next.
- Click "Attach existing policies directly".
- Search the list for "AmazonS3FullAccess" and click the checkbox to the left.
- Click Next.
- Click Create User.
- Here you'll be given your S3 API Key and S3 API Secret (click "Show" to reveal Secret)
- Be sure to write down both of these somewhere safe. If you lose them, you'll have to generate new keys.
  - If you need new keys, visit the SKDrive Security Credentials page of IAM.
  - Click the X to the right of your current Access Key and click Delete.
  - Click "Create access key".
  - Write down the new Key and Secret somewhere safe.
  - If you are already logged in to SK Drive on your computer, delete the "config.xml" file in the SK Drive install directory ("%APPDATA%/SK Drive") and restart the application.

Choose an S3 Region

Select the region from the drop-down menu that is closest to your location.
This region is where the server will be located to store your files.

Choose Local Folder Location

Select the drive letter from the drop-down menu. This is where your local files will be stored.
Ex: If you choose C, the folder "C:\SK Drive" will be created.

Finish Setup

Once all of the information is entered, click Confirm to finish setup.
If an error occurs, it will display on screen and you can try again. A full list of S3 errors can be found here.
Once everything is successful, the window will close and SK Drive will startup.
- You'll find an icon on the taskbar at the bottom right of your screen.
- Clicking on the icon will open a small window which shows the current syncing status, recent files, and various buttons.
- Double-clicking on the taskbar icon will open up the local folder where you can view all of your synced files. Anything in this folder will be synced to the cloud and any other computers that are logged in with the same account.

DigitalOcean Setup

To obtain your Spaces API Key and Spaces API Secret

Go to https://cloud.digitalocean.com/spaces
- If you have an DigitalOcean account, sign in.
- If you do not have an account, create one now.
  - During the account creation process, you'll need to enter your credit card for billing purposes.
  - If presented with any options that have additional fees, these can be skipped as they are not needed for SK Drive.
  - Once account creation is complete, log into the console.
On the Spaces page, you'll see a "Get Started" button. Click that to begin.
Once on the Create a Space page:
- Enter as the Space name. (If it says the name is already taken, click here to generate a new name.)
- Select a datacenter region that is closest to your location. (Remember this choice for later.)
- Select "Restrict File Listing".
- Click Create a Space.
At the top of the page click API:
- Scroll down to Spaces access keys.
- Click "Generate New Key".
- Enter SKDrive as the name.
- Click the checkmark to the right of the box.
- Here you'll be given your Spaces API Key and Spaces API Secret.
- Be sure to write down both of these somewhere safe. If you lose them, you'll have to generate new keys.
  - If you need new keys, visit the API tab.
  - Click "More" to the right of your SKDrive key.
  - Click "Regenerate Key".
  - Write down the new Key and Secret somewhere safe.
  - If you are already logged in to SK Drive on your computer, delete the "config.xml" file in the SK Drive install directory ("%APPDATA%/SK Drive") and restart the application.

Choose an Spaces Region

Select the region from the drop-down menu that matches the region you selected previously.

Choose Local Folder Location

Select the drive letter from the drop-down menu. This is where your local files will be stored.
Ex: If you choose C, the folder "C:\SK Drive" will be created.

Finish Setup

Once all of the information is entered, click Confirm to finish setup.
If an error occurs, it will display on screen and you can try again. A full list of errors can be found here. (Note: DigitalOcean uses the same system as Amazon Web Services.)
